Tips on Setting Up Your Mac Mini With Your Big Screen TV

Are you using your big screen TV for your Mac Mini?  If you are, make sure you do the following to make sure everything goes smoothly.

1. Make sure you have a remote access program installed, like LogMein (no, I’m not promoting it).  There are several remote access programs available but I used this because I use it at work on a daily basis.  It works great and you don’t have to worry about opening up ports on your firewall.  You may have to set up an account to get it successfully installed.  When you install LogMeIn, make sure you have a computer description, like, Sidney’s Mac Mini or so.  It will become handy later on.

2. Check if your big TV screen supports any resolution other than 1080p or 720p (depending on what type of TV you have).  If it does, you can try it out using System Preferences –> Display.  Remember, once you change the screen resolution, you may not be able to get it back.  So,don’t change the screen resolution.  Unlike computer monitors, big screen TV’s only support one resolution.  Let the Mac Mini detect the resolution when you first set it up and leave it at that.

3.  Just in case #2 fails, this is when LogMeIn comes to play.  Just log into the website and you should see your computer.  In my case, it will say Sidney’s Mac Mini.  You log into your Mac Mini using the credentials you setup when you first did the initial setup.  Once logged in, go back to System Preferences –> Display and choose the resolution that you had before.  in my case, it was 1080p and you should be able to restore what you had before.

Hope this helps save you time and grief and you should be able to enjoy your Mac Mini.

Use AIDA Marketing To Promote What You Offer Online

AIDA Marketing?

No,it’s not about a lady named Aida.  It’s a marketing tactic you use to promote what you offer online.  It’s one of the most effective advertising tools that’s still being used to this day.

You’ll see this tactic in many forms of advertising and in many medium, whether it’s TV, newspapers, online classified ads, blogs, websites, or pay per click.

AIDA stands for:

A – Attention

I – Interest

D – Desire

A – Action

Before I send you to several websites that talk about AIDA Marketing, let me leave you with something to think about.

I’ll assume you’re already in business for yourself and you have a product or service to offer.  You want to promote what you offer online.  What do you promote, a product/service or a solution?

(Click here for my explanation of AIDA Marketing.)

People in this world will always have problems.  Whatever their problem is, you have to figure it out.  Most of our audience have money problems.  Some may have health problems or weight problems.

Some people may have a problem with going to the bathroom to pee too many times.  Maybe some have a gambling problem or a spending too much money problem.

Those are just examples that came off the top of my head.  I’ll take your word for it if you can find some other problems.  However that’s beyond the point.

So did you get the answer in what do you promote? Don’t promote your product or service based on the features of that product.  Promote a solution instead.  Why? Because you get your audience more curious, especially if what you offer online is the solution to their problem.  Most likely, customers purchase a solution to their problem.

Now that you got their attention, you want to get their interest.  By telling them what your solution delivers, when you promote what you offer online, you tell them your story, your experiences with the solution you offer and how it solved your problem.  Be sure to include a disclaimer, such as…

I don’t know if this will work for you the way it worked for me, but would you like to try it out?

Which basically covers your butt.

From that point, you also let your customer know that you want them to desire in getting you to help them solve their problem.  Don’t try to sell the product/service.  Get them to buy it based on your story with the product and their need to solve their problem.

From that point on, direct them to the website so that they can take action. Although you don’t have to, be there for assistance if they need your help, such as making sure that they got the correct product or service ordered.

Don’t promote what you offer online if it doesn’t apply to them.  However, try to over-deliver, go the extra mile in helping them solve their problem.  Give them only what you need.  If additional products are necessary as part of the solution, help them with that as well.

Always thank them for coming to you.  You never know that because you provided a excellent service to them, they might bring referrals.

So to sum things up in using AIDA Marketing topromote what you offer online:

  • Focus on attention, interest, desire, and action.
  • Don’t promote your product or service based on the features of that product.  Promote a solution instead.  Customers are more likely to purchase a solution to their problem.
  • Although people get more commissions on upselling, it’s better if they focus on the solution instead.  Only upsell if it’s part of the solution to their problem.
  • Overdeliver when you help them.  Don’t be lazy.
  • Thank them for their patronage.

So always use AIDA Marketing to promote what you offer online.  You use this when you write your ad.  I won’t do it any other way.

Cheers…

Ask For Something Big And You Might Get It

Ask for something big and you might get it.

I’m not talking about winning a super bowl, national championship, nor a world series. It’s about how you can be as large as the world you live in with God’s help.  Will it happen?  It all depends.  Have faith and be patient, it will happen when the time comes.  Don’t ever underestimate what God can do for you.  Ask Him to assist you in what you can do for those who need your help.  Pray the ability to fish and teach others to do the same so that you can do better in helping others.

“Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.” (Psalm 2:8, NIV)

No doubt about this one.

I’m Not Anti-Social, I’m Anti-Idiot And Helping Others Be The Same

One of my contacts posted this, so I’m sharing it with you.  Keep this in mind as part of your New Year’s resolution so that you’ll have a better 2014 and beyond.

not-anti-social-just-anti-idiot

To be honest with  you, I’m no idiot, but not necessarily that social.  Why? Because the world is full of people who are full of promises but can’t keep their word.  I can name a few people who are driven by what benefits them the most instead of helping others.  People socialize because they are looking for what benefits them.  I socialize because I’m into helping others looking for people who can benefit on what I have to offer to them, whether it’s in facebook, twitter, or Google Plus.

So if you’re going to post what you have on Facebook, be sure your intended message is…

Helping Others

Just want to share this thought and expand on it.
